Chris McCoy and I grew up thousands of miles apart but often, we share the same sensibilities.  We talked about the fact that for many, November 22 is just a date.  But those of us of a certain generation will never forget that dark Friday in 1963.

I recall exactly where I was in the classroom, the seat I was in...when our teacher broke down and told us that our president had been slain in Dallas.

The mourning played out for days on television, and I was hoping we’d all wake up from the nightmare.

I wondered how we’d ever return to normalcy.  In many ways, that day has never come.
