He was born in Berkeley and raised in El Cerrito. John Fogerty's accolades include a Grammy Award and spots on Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Song Writers and 100 Greatest Singers lists. Iconic hits "Proud Mary", "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Born on the Bayou", "Bad Moon Rising" and so many more from his song book were all amazingly released in just one year, 1969. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter Hall of Fame and is the bestselling author of his autobiography "Fortunate Son" named after this tune:
